About Byambyn Rinchen

Byambyn Rinchen (1905-1977) was a scholar, translator, and writer, and is known as one of the founding fathers of modern Mongolian literature. Several of his novels and short stories became classic works and are placed in the compulsory curriculum of Mongolian schools, including Anu hatun (Queen Anu), “Zaan Zaluudai, Shüherch Buniya” (“Buniya, the Parachutist”), “Nuucyg zadruulsan zahia” (“The Letter of Betrayal”). Proficient in Russian, Manchu, French, English, Chinese, Polish, Czech, German and Esperanto, he translated over 240 works of over 70 authors from 20 countries in his lifetime.
