About Sheikh Baha'i

Baha-o-Din Mohammad Ameli, known as Sheikh Baha’i (1546/47-1621/22), was born near Baalbek. In 1558, after the execution of his father’s mentor Shahid al-Thani, he moved with his family to the neighbouring Safavid empire, first to Isfahan and then to Qazvin. Baha’i’s erudition won him the title of Sheikh-ol-Islam bestowed on him by Shah Abbas. Babah’i was a prolific writer and composed numerous works in Arabic and Persian. He is buried in Goharshad Mosque, Mashhad, Iran.
