Johnny Lorenz, son of Brazilian immigrants, is a professor of English at Montclair State. He has translated A Breath of Life and The Besieged City by Clarice Lispector. His forthcoming translation of Itamar Vieira Junior's Crooked Plow (Verso) received a grant from the NEA. His scholarship has appeared in numerous journals. His volume of original poems, Education by Windows, was published in 2018 by Poets & Traitors Press.
