About Lin Ruiming

Lin Ruiming 林瑞明 (1950-2018) was born in Tainan, Taiwan. He published his poetry under the pen names Lin Fan (林梵). Lin was best known as a historian and literary critic. He taught at the History Department of National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan and retired in 2015.

From 2003 to 2005, Lin worked as the first curator of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature. He has been recognized as one of the pioneer advocates for Taiwanese studies. Apart from his role as a historian, Lin was a prolific poet. He has published several poetry collections, including The Lost Sea (1976), Unknown Events (1985), Homeland and Youth (2009), and The South and the Sea (2012).
