About Cynthia Steele

Cynthia Steele (b. Colusa, California, 1951) is Professor Emerita of Comparative Literature at the University of Washington in Seattle. In addition to her extensive publications of literary criticism, she has published books in translation by Mexican authors Inés Arredondo and José Emilio Pacheco and by Spanish author María Gudín. Steele’s translations have also appeared in Chicago Review, Seattle Review, TriQuarterly, Gulf Coast, and Trinity Journal of Literary Translation; others are forthcoming in Lunch Ticket, Southern Review, Washington Square Review, and Michigan Quarterly Review.
