Robert Kenneth Painter studied classical languages at Colby College and the University of St Andrews (Scotland), and English and German linguistics at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo, where he earned a PhD in 2012. He is Lecturer of Linguistics at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
