Edoardo Albinati (b. 1954) is a writer from Rome who in 2016 won Italy’s most prestigious literary award, the Strega Prize, for his encyclopedic memoir, La scuola cattolica. Since 1995 he has taught at Rome’s Rebibbia prison, an experience that resulted in the autobiographical reflections in Maggio selvaggio, 2001. He has taken part in UN High Commission for Refugees missions in Afghanistan and Chad, producing reports for leading Italian dailies Corriere della sera and La Repubblica. He has written screenplays for films by directors Matteo Garrone (Tale of Tales, 2015) and Marco Bellocchio (Fai bei sogni, 2016).
