Stephanie McCarter is Professor of Classics at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Her most recent book is a translation of Ovid's Metamorphoses, published in Fall 2022 by Penguin Classics. Her other books include a monograph entitled Horace between Freedom and Slavery: The First Book of Epistles (Wisconsin, 2015) and an annotated translation of Horace's Epodes, Odes, and Carmen Saeculare (Oklahoma, 2020). She has also written a number of academic articles on Latin poetry and penned essays for public-facing venues such as Electric Literature, Literary Hub, The Washington Post, and elsewhere.
