About Abraham Regelson

Abraham Regelson (1896–1981) was a poet and essayist, author of Melo hatalit alim (A Shawl Full of Leaves) and Haquqot otiyotayikh (Engraved Are Thy Letters), among others. Born in the Russian Empire and raised in the United States, he moved to Mandatory Palestine in 1933, returning to the U.S. in 1936 after the death of his son. Regelson worked as a teacher, druggist, and Yiddish newspaper writer, while also publishing Hebrew poetry and prose. He moved back to Israel in 1949, where he won recognition as one of the great Hebrew writers of his time.
