Songs of War Injuries

Amidst the blackened sky
Is there a single bright side?
Among the feuding people
Is there a single peaceful land?

Amidst the dark night sky
Is there a single light side?
Among the warring nations
Is there a single restful end?

The green cuckoo’s song
Rings in the verdant forest.
Our ancestors’ words
Sound in the mental heart.

The melodious cuckoo’s song
Rings in the mountain peaks.
Our parents’ words
Sound in the physical heart.

A Curse on Germany (Kargysh)

On the black mountain head
I see snow falling.
Upon the evil German land,
I see calamity falling.
On the flat mountain head,
I see lightning falling.
Upon cruel Hitler’s land,
I see misfortune falling.

On the dark mountain head
I see flames falling.
Upon the fascists’ heads
I see gunfire falling.
Over the roan mountain head
I know—the clouds are drifting.
On the bourgeois necks
I know—the nooses are descending.
