About Antonio Tabucchi

Antonio Tabucchi (1943-2012) was a prolific Italian writer, translator, and scholar of Portuguese literature. He wrote novels and short stories and translated the works of Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa into Italian. Tabucchi is known for his postmodern narratives, which evoke several different genres and are rife with intertextual references, recurring characters, and self-citation. His works are both erudite and intellectual, yet remain charged by profound human quests for love, knowledge, and beauty.
