Chen Li (陳黎, 1954- ) was born in Hualien, Taiwan. A recipient of Taiwan’s National Award for Literature and Arts and the Taiwan Literature Award, Chen Li has published fourteen poetry books and is a prolific prose writer and translator. His poems have been translated into English, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Croatian, Japanese, and Korean. English translations of his writings have appeared in many North American journals including Poetry and World Literature Toady, as well as in Chinese literature anthologies. Chen Li participated in the Fall 2014 residency of the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program.
