Seneca Minor, or Lucius Annaeus Seneca, was a philosopher and politician who lived from c. 4 BCE to 65 CE. He was born in Spain, but raised in Rome. He was a Senator until he was exiled by Claudius in 41 CE, but was brought back to Rome to become young Nero’s tutor when Claudius died. He was a prolific writer, producing varied works such as philosophical essays, satire, a collection of letters, and tragedies. All of his works showcase his particular style of Stoic philosophy. Nero ordered him to die by suicide in 65 CE.
