About Isabelle Hoarau-Joly

Isabelle Hoarau-Joly was born on October 18, 1955 in Saint-Pierre, Réunion in the Indian Ocean. A prolific anthropologist, children's writer, storyteller, journalist and lecturer, she has published numerous stories and collections, such as Réunnionisme (2015). In 2014, she was decorated by the Ministry of Culture with the honorary title: Chevalier des arts et des lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.) She has spoken widely at schools, libraries and universities, and book fairs to raise awareness about the Indian Ocean. She contributes to the literary magazines Indigo and Mozaik.
