About Liu Zongyuan (柳宗元)

Liu Zongyuan (773–819) was one of the Eight Masters of the Tang and Song. Because of his aggressive participation in the YongZhen Reform, he was expelled to YongZhou as the reform failed. There, he wrote the famous eight travel journals of YongZhou, and the Journal of the Petit Tarn was one of them, which subtly expressed his sorrow and worry.
