About Abd ai-Rahim Sa'id Muhammad BaSalim

Abd ai-Rahim Sa'id Muhammad BaSalim (1920 - 1978) grew up in Mombasa, where he found work as a door-to-door perfume salesman. His songs became popular on the wedding circuit. “Kasha Langu la Zamani” was a particular hit in the 1950s, and a local singer named Athmani Abdullah Kajungu became associated with the song to the extent that he was known as Athmani Kasha. Its popularity has been sustained by subsequent recordings by musicians such as Habib Swaleh and Mombasa Roots.
