About Zuzanna Ginczanka

Zuzanna Ginczanka was a Polish-Jewish poet of the interwar period. She began writing poems at the age of four, published her first poems at fourteen, and was nationally-recognized for her poetry by the age of sixteen. Her first and only collection About Centaurs was widely lauded in Poland when it was released in 1936. In 1945, Ginczanka was murdered in the Holocaust at the age of twenty-eight. The most up-to-date volume of her collected works, including newly found poems, was released in 2019. She is part of a host of women writers of the era being “rediscovered” in the present-day Polish literary scene.
