About Carol Polsgrove

Carol Polsgrove is a publishing historian whose interest in the lives of writers led to three books: It Wasn't Pretty Folks, But Didn't We Have Fun? Esquire in the Sixties; Divided Minds: Intellectuals and the Civil Rights Movement, and Ending British Rule in Africa: Writers in a Common Cause. On retiring from the faculty of the Indiana University School of Journalism at Bloomington, she launched a website featuring interviews with writers, among them Fernando Contreras Castro. That interview and the reading she did in preparation for it led her to initiate this translation from Sonambulario in the hope that his work would find a wider audience among English speaking readers.
