Liu Waitong 廖偉棠 (b. 1975) is a Chinese poet and photographer, who moved to Hong Kong in 1997. Since his debut in 1995, Liu has published many collections of poetry, including Heiyu jiangzhi [Black rain will fall] (2008) and Yeman yege [Barbarous night song] (2011). Besides poetry, Liu also writes essays and fiction. He has been awarded several literary prizes in Hong Kong and Taiwan, including the China Times Literary Award and the United Daily News Award. A collection of his poems in English translation, Wandering Hong Kong with Spirits, was published by MCCM Creations in 2016.
