About Kamal Kumar Tanti

Kamal Kumar Tanti is a promising young voice in the contemporary Assamese poetry. He belongs to the Adivasi Tea Garden Labourer Community of Assam. His collection of poetry in Assamese, Marangburu Amar Pita (Our Father Marangburu), published in 2007, won him the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for 2012, for Assamese language, and the Munin Barkotoki Literary Award in 2008. His poems have been included in various anthologies and journals. Tanti’s prose work in Assamese, Nimnaborgo Somaaj Oitijya (Subaltern Society’s Legacy), published in 2007, is a collection of articles on post-colonial theory and subaltern historiography.
