Tegan Raleigh

Tegan Raleigh is an alumna of the Iowa Translation Workshop, and is a PhD Candidate at UC Santa Barbara. She hails from the Silicon Valley and currently lives in Paris, where she is conducting dissertation research and teaching at the Université de Paris-8 Saint-Denis. Her early scholarly research focused on the representation and delineation of the Orient in Francophone and Germanophone traditions and literary responses to such discourses. These inquiries have led to her dissertation work on the contextualization of fairy tales and exotic tales and the concept of pseudotranslation, a term retroactively applied to a phenomenon that was particularly abundant in France just prior to the Revolution.
